Regional applications will be reviewed by a diverse panel of education advocates and finalists will be interviewed by department staff and recommended to the Director for selection.

The selection committee will consider complete applications only.
Please note that there is no “save and return” function in this online form, so your submission must be completed in one session. We recommend that you gather and prepare all information ahead of time (attachments, essay responses, etc.) You can fill in placeholder information for the required fields just so you can click through and review the application, but make sure you don’t accidently hit “submit!”
Complete applications are due no later than 5:00 PM on Friday, April 28, 2023.
In Summer 2023, the Oregon Department of Education will notify four regional finalists and request interviews. Later, in the Fall, up to 19 Regional Teachers of the Year will be announced and awarded $1,000. Soon after, the Oregon Teacher of the Year will be awarded $10,000 and $5,000 for their school.
Demographic Information – Personal contact information, date of birth, ethnicity (optional), subject area and years of teaching experience.
School Information – School name, address and contact information, and number of students in school and district.
Supervisor Information – Principal’s name and email; Superintendent’s name and email.
Resume – Education and degrees earned, teaching and employment history, professional activities, memberships and offices held, and any awards or other recognition of your teaching.
Letters of Support – Three letters from any of the following: superintendent, principal, colleague, student/former student, parent of student, or civic leader. One page limit per letter.
High Resolution Photograph – Upload a photo suitable for publicity purposes. Please do not submit a selfie or thumbnail, as this photo will be used in multiple marketing and publication channels. Please ensure your photo is just of you, facing the camera, so you can clearly be seen and identified.
